Happy Birthday to Jennifer Mahoney Hedger - Dusty Attic Owner and Designer Extraordinaire!!!

To celebrate Jens birthday (it's a special number this year!!) the team here at Dusty Attic are hosting a blog hop.  We all created a special layout for Jen to commemorate her special day - and of course we'd like to share them with you!

Participating are:

Maggie Armstrong (you are here!!)

I used a Canvas Corp Mixed Media paper as the background with loads of sprays and inks.  Lots of yummy Dusty chipboard and a beautiful photo of the 2 Jens from Dusty Attic!  I loved putting this together.

July at Dusty Attic

The months seem to be flying past this year.  July already - lovely frosty mornings followed by gorgeous sunny days here in the Bay Of Plenty.  Life is grand!

This months Dusty Mood board took me somewhere completely different to what I originally had in mind - initially I was thinking a rich, colourful Moroccan themed layout - but my project segued into a trip of cards using some of Dusty Attics new release Whimsy Frames.

I used Whimsy Frames # 1 and Whimsey Frames # 2 - painted up with a little Dusty Attic Alabaster.  Finished with some gorgeous Dusty Attic Bling Flourish and a few Dusty Attic odds and ends.  pretty pleased with the result - quite a departure from my normal style of cards and very fun to make!

Happy days! xx

Dusty Attic - June Mood Board

Welcome to June!  How the months are flying past this year!  It's officially winter here in the antipodes, but we have been having chilly mornings and glorious hot sunny days!  Long may that last!

This months mood boards at Dusty Attic, as you can see, is reminiscent of the beach life - something that we are very fortunate to have a lot of here in New Zealand!  So this was easy for me to find a photo to suit!

I had lots of fun creating coral and weaves using Dusty chipboard, embossing powder, texture paste and Colour Burst spray.

The corrugated cardboard that comes in handy packed 12 x 12 sheets is a staple 'go to' whenever I am doing an outdoors themed layout.

Don't you just love that little sand dollar style chippie?

Thanks for stopping by - and I look forward to seeing your June Dusty Attic Moodboard entry.

Dusty Attic - May Moodboard

Welcome to the month of May.  Dusty Attic's mood board for May spoke to me of Parisian opulence, with pinks, silver and a dash of shabbiness.

Clearly, a feminine layout was the order of the day!  I used some older papers from Pion Design and a healthy handful of Dusty Attic chipboard, blooms and paint!

I used the Ornate Frame Set DA1467 to start with, and embossed it with a fine silver embossing powder.  It came up so beautifully, will be doing that again!!

A mixture of blooms - both paper and chipboard.  Painted the chipboard Mini Blossoms #2 DA1505 with pink and white and used Liquid Pearls as stamens.

Love this Lattice Small DA1501 - it adds such a pretty touch to a project.

DA Fancy Trim #3 is another versatile item - I snipped individual parts from it, painted them white and tucked them in here and there.  Soft, lacy prettiness.  I loved creating this!

I have been having quite a creative week, and came up with this little 4x4 canvas, using Dusty Attic and lots of paint and sprays!  My daughter has claimed it for her bedroom!

Thanks for stopping by!  There's still time to enter the monthly mood board challenge over at the Dusty Attic blog, would love to see your entries!  See below for a list of Dusty Attic products used and quick links to their whereabouts on the internet!

Dusty Attic - April Mood Board

Pale lavenders, alabaster whites and en trend teals, these colours represent Aprils mood board.  I think I could look at these dreamy pictures all day!!

When my daughter was 3 I took her to visit a lavender farm in the Waikato.  It was pure beauty.  Row upon row of lavender, buzzing with sleepy drunk bees, interspersed with old gnarly old olive trees, it was a scrapbookers heaven!!!  I have used one of the photos in my layout this month as it fit the bill just perfectly!

I used the DA1502 Federation Frame as the basis to work upon.  Painted with a coat of DA Alabaster White paint and backed with white muslin.

I also painted up the DA1001 Lavender set, using DA Lavender Blush, DA Pesto, and DA Denim.  A smattering of Dusty in Bloom flowers and the word 'Love' trimmed from the MC#6 Live Laugh Love set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to check the Dusty Attic blog for your daily dose of inspiration!

Dusty Attic March Moodboard

Hello all!  So nice to be back into the swing of things after a short hiatus!  I am very excited to be part of the 2016 Dusty Attic Creative Team - if you haven't checked out their range of beautiful chipboard, flowers, paint and other essential mixed media items then click here.

Each month, the team at Dusty Attic put up a moodboard - details as follows:

''Welcome to our Mood Board for 2016, we hope you love it as much as we do! Use the colours and words for Inspiration. Not only can you use Kraft, black or white cardstock but also it can be anything your heart desires to create, layouts, cards or an off the page project. The only "rule" is that you require Dusty Attic chipboard used on your masterpiece. Just add your link, name and country here to win a $100 Gift Voucher to the Dusty Attic website.''

I have been lucky enough to see all the moodboards for the year ahead and they are totally gorgeous!

I created this altered wooden block for January...

February's moodboard entries can be seen here.  A display of very beautiful and talented work.

This is my take on the Feb Moodboard - a layout using lots of lovely chippy and paint.

But on to the delicious moodboard for March - a very shabby and vintage look and feel.  Creams, whites and sepias, with fabric textures of lace, burlap and muslin.  Hmmm, right up my alley and a perfect canvas to celebrate my Grandparents!

I used a 12x12 sheet of Dusty Attic Corrugated Card DA08309 to create a faux printers tray.  Easy to cut out and work with.  Painted, inked, distressed and textured, the corrugated card was able to withstand a fair bit of punishment!

A mixture of chipboard is incorporated into the layout, purely for decorative purposes of course!  Using a mixture of Alabaster and Sunshine Dusty Attic paint, I painted the chipboard a lovely vintage cream, then clear embossed with UTEE.  Really love the result!  A few blooms of Dusty Attic Bridal Veil complimented the look.

Some close up shots...

Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to seeing your March Moodboard Entries!
